Gurmuu Foundation aims to improve the living conditions and livelihoods of vulnerable groups in Ethiopia, in particular women, children and youths. Sustainable poverty reduction and improvement of educational and health care are the focus of the organisation.
In the Netherlands Gurmuu Foundation aims to strengthen the position of ‘new comers’ by building bridges to Dutch society and other groups. Uniting people, creating mutual connections and exchange of experiences are important aspects of the work of the foundation.
Gurmuu aims to realize its goals by implementing different activities in both Ethiopia and the Netherlands:
Implementing projects for sustainable poverty reduction Implementing projects to strengthen the socio-economic position of women, children and youths and improve educational facilities Stimulate education for vulnerable children and especially for girls and organising sport activities for youth. Improve health care and health education amongst others: Malaria, HIV/Aids, Water disease, Early/forced marriage and female circumcision.
Integration of the new arrivals in the Netherlands.
To support the integration of the new comers into the Dutch society, the Foundation organized workshops about Dutch culture, habits and the practical side of schooling, living and working in the Netherlands.
